Wide Receiver, Class of 2021
Thomas Jefferson High School, Richmond, VA
Last Saturday, Thomas Jefferson (Va.) 2021 three-star wide receiver Jaylen Jones announced a top five. But it turns out, he might be even closer than that to narrowing down his recruitment.
Jones, Rivals.com’s No. 42 player in Virginia for the class, and No. 20 by 247, announced a top five on social media of Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, Wake Forest, Boston College and East Carolina. He visited two of those five before the current pandemic set in. While Jones hopes to get in more stops as soon as he can, he’s also taking the added time to go over what each has to offer.
“It’s just where I feel at home and I can see myself going to that school without football,” he said. “Just genuine coaches and a family atmosphere. That’s what matters.”
Jones visited the Hokies on March 1 and left with a scholarship offer. The trip gave him a chance to see first-hand what’s going on within the program and campus. But the future possibilities could have the biggest impact.
“They have a young team and they’re doing things fast,” Jones said. “They have new things they’re building, and there’s just a lot of good stuff going on. And I have a good relationship with the coaches.
