Lakeem Rudolph has an interesting story. At the conclusion of the 2018 season, his junior year, his recruitment was just picking up steam. He was supposed to be a guy with a lot of options on the table. That probably was going to be the case, until he was hit by a car in front of his high school in November of 2018.
Rudolph had surgery for a broken jaw, and he also suffered a lower back injury that kept him out of basketball season. The injuries stalled his recruitment, but Virginia Tech came through with an offer after he was cleared for full activity. They weren’t joined in offering him by any other Power 5 programs, which isn’t too surprising.
Rudolph had a very productive senior season for Green Run High School, playing at a high level on both sides of the ball. At that point, however, most schools have very few scholarship spots open on their roster. The Hokies offered him...
