With a recent influx of offers, Katy (TX) 2022 defensive end Malick Sylla has the assurance of knowing he can play at the FBS level. Whenever he can get back to taking visits, Sylla can get a better sense of where he might spend his college career.
Sylla has 14 offers, most recently from Virginia Tech, Arkansas and Texas. While he can’t physically see any of his choices, putting his recruitment in a holding pattern, he’s already getting a sense for what characteristics his next home will possess.
“I’m looking, first off, I want to know the defense, if it can be built around me,” Sylla said. “If I can fit in, or it’s built around me. I want a school that’s known for great DE’s. There’s a lot, I want a consistent staff that’s there for a while, that’s the main stuff.”
Prior to the current NCAA dead period, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Sylla said he took only one visit, in January at Houston for a junior day. Though the Cougars had some promising signs, it wasn’t enough for Sylla to move them further ahead of his other options.
