Sierra Canyon (Calif.) defensive back DJ Harvey is limited in what he can do. With California ordering residents to shelter in place, he can’t do his normal workouts and training. So, he’s had to get creative.

“A lot of people don’t like school, but you get to this point, you want (the pandemic) to be over,” Harvey said. “But you can’t go out, can’t do this, can’t do that. It gets cool for a minute, then it dies. I’ll do literally anything to go work out. My dad and I are competitive. We play Madden and 2k. Whoever wins the half or does big plays, the other’s got to do push-ups. I do get work at home, just being a normal kid.”

Last week Harvey,’s No. 30 athlete and player in California for 2021, released eight schools standing out in his recruitment. That group consists of Virginia Tech, Arizona State, California, Kansas, LSU, Notre Dame, Oregon and USC. Now Harvey is taking further steps to narrow down his list further as best as he can under the current conditions.

“They all bring something different to the table,” he said. “First, it comes down to my degree, if they have what I’m looking for in a coach.
