St. Christopher’s (Va.) 2022 wide receiver Andre Greene Jr. has eight offers. Three of those (Penn State, Maryland and East Carolina) came on the same day last week. As part of the process, Greene is sifting through those options, visiting as many schools as he can and getting a feel for his future possibilities.
“I look at how they treat each other, like family values,” he said. “When I went to UVA, they talked about family, not just football. I want a great program, then after football, I’m looking at how that degree will look on my resume.”
On March 1, Greene and his father visited Virginia Tech for junior day. The visit was his first to Blacksburg, with the offer coming just before he left.
“They showed us around campus, the school and the weight room they’re building,” Greene said. “It’s a lot of what’s going to be there in 2021 and 2022, because they’ve had a lot of construction. I talked to the head coach, too, so that’s nice. I didn’t feel like just an average recruit. They really made me and my family feel special.”
Assistant coach Ryan Smith has been Greene’s primary recruiter. The two of them caught up during the visit.
