Virginia Tech went just a few miles across the Potomac River to sign Georgetown Prep tailback Jalen Hampton.  Hampton put together a solid and consistent high school career against quality competition, and I think he’s a good addition to the 2020 recruiting class.

Sophomore: 180 carries, 1,302 yards, 7.2 ypc, 13 TDs
Junior: 169 carries, 1,443 yards, 8.5 ypc, 14 TDs
Senior: 169 carries, 1,214 yards, 7.2 ypc, 11 TDs
Combined: 518 carries, 3,959 yards, 7.6 ypc, 38 TDs

Hampton was the Interstate Athletic Conference Player of the Year as a senior and the Offensive Player of the Year as a junior.  He faced quality competition in the DC area.  Because of that level of competition and some of his standout attributes, I think he’s closer to contributing at the college level than many realize.
