I don’t have much else to say about Virginia Tech’s search for assistant coaches, so I figure I’d turn my attention to recruiting with a little bit of roster management mixed in.
That said, I do want to say one thing about Tech’s search for assistants. The process is winding down, according to what Justin Fuente said to the media this week. You know how the Human Resources stuff works. It takes awhile to make the hires official as a result. But for the most part, I think Fuente knows who he wants and who he is going to get.
With regards to the coaches he let go, here’s what he had to say, according to Andy Bitter…
“The coaches that are no longer with us I think did a great job and worked hard, and we’re very appreciative of their time and effort and their dedication to our program, but again, all the pieces have to fit together. It’s a bigger vision and it’s all about finding those pieces and fitting them in there nice and snug. And that’s what we’re in the process of.”
I think that’s Fuente’s way of saying “Charley Wiles is a really good coach, but we need to reorganize our staff to make ourselves more efficient.”
