A Much-Needed Bye Week Coming For Virginia Tech

The bye week is here.  Thank goodness.  I don’t know of any team more in need of a bye week than Virginia Tech.  I don’t know of any fanbase more in need of a bye week than Hokie Nation.  And personally speaking, I’m ready for one, too.

Blech.  I called last week’s ODU game “bland”, but I’ll take bland over what we saw in Lane Stadium on Saturday against Furman.  Statistically speaking, the Furman offense should have done fairly well against the Tech defense, but the Hokie offense should have had a big day against an undersized and somewhat inexperienced Furman defense.  Instead, it was the other way around, and though we’d all like to feel good about what was a pretty good defensive performance, we can’t help but be depressed about the product the Hokies put on the field offensively.

But as usual, I’ll try to be balanced.  I’ll start off with positive thoughts first, and then move on to the negative.
