The commitment, at least publicly, was just a formality for 2020 wide receiver Tyree Saunders. He just announced his commitment to Virginia Tech on Saturday afternoon. But for weeks, he had already been recruiting others to the Hokies. He himself had already made his mind up, but he needed to feel good about the timing.

Saunders, a former South Florida commit, had been working on his friend, Ribault (Fla.) safety Keonta Jenkins. On Aug. 23, Jenkins gave his commitment to Virginia Tech. Saunders decommitted from the Bulls two days before that.
