There isn’t a formal, posted list of top schools for Cheraw (SC) three-star wide receiver Jalen Coit. However, there’s a pair of set official visits and two others on the way that should provide some clarity for his recruitment moving forward.
On Oct. 5, Coit will officially visit Louisville, and the following weekend he’ll be at Purdue, After that, Coit said he’s setting up official dates to Virginia Tech and Miami. But Rivals.com’s No. 17 player in South Carolina also is leaving the door cracked for any others to get involved.
“I’m still open, but I know which schools I’m talking to,” Coit said. “I’m going to narrow it down, but I’m just keeping a low profile. I just got to find the perfect fit for me. That’s what it comes down to, a place I feel like I can be comfortable the next three or four years.”
Coit was last in Blacksburg this spring, when he picked up an offer. But he’s stayed in steady contact with his primary recruiter, assistant coach Jafar Williams.
“I love it there,” Coit said. “It’s a nice campus. Coach Williams is a different type of coach, laid back, cool, just a players’ coach. He’s trying to bring something new in there. Coach (Justin) Fuente is laid back. He cares about you, and you just have a family feel there.”
When he does get back to Virginia Tech, Coit said there are a few specifics he wants to see for himself.
“There’s a lot I want to do, just seeing the landscape, what surrounds it, what’s there,” he said. “I want to talk to the players. I’ve talked to them, but I want to get a feel for everything...
