As it always does, the position will sort itself out. But for now, West Stanly (NC) 2021 three-star Jordan Poole is caught in between linebacker and running back.
Poole has four offers, from Virginia Tech, South Carolina, NC State and East Carolina. Between the four, there’s some differing opinions on where he could fit best at the college level. The good thing, though, is Poole still has two seasons of high school football remaining, and as his body and game continue to develop, he’s not overreading his recruitment or position.
“Most offers are for linebacker, but Virginia Tech is recruiting me for linebacker and running back,” Poole said. “It’s one of those deals where I have to see where I best fit. Mostly, I’m trying to figure that out. I’m leaning more towards defense. I love running back, too, but at linebacker, I just feel like that’s a better fit for me. That’s what I’m focusing on this year. I think linebacker might be the place, but if it’s not, I’m a running back. I’m just going to do what’s best.”
The Hokies were the first to offer Poole, on June 2, and he was on hand July 27 for their Blacksburg Bash barbecue.
“My first time I went there was for a camp, because the recruiter came to my school and watched me practice a little and asked me to come,” Poole said. “After I got the offer, they gave me a tour of the facility, and I talked to the head coach. It was definitely what I expected. Since it was a prospect day, with other guys, we just hung out, went bowling, hung out with the position coach.”
