It’s finally time for our annual top prospects list, and both of our participants found it more difficult to rank players this year because there are more high-ceiling prospects in the program than in past seasons.
As a reminder, eligible players are redshirt sophomores or younger who have played fewer than 100 offensive or defensive snaps. Special teams snaps don’t count. Also, JUCO players are eligible, and Brock Hoffman is eligible as well since he transferred in from a lower division.

Before I get started with my Top Prospects list, I’d like to revisit the Top 10 list I did last year (August, 2018) to see how things worked out with my predictions. I think part of the fun of doing articles like this is to go back and see how well we did with our projections. Here’s my 6-10 in descending order with some comments:
10. Phil Patterson
9. Rayshard Ashby
8. James Mitchell
7. Lecitus Smith
6. Tre Turner
Overall, I’m pretty happy with those players. Obviously, hindsight being 20/20, you’d want Tre Turner higher
