Monday and Wednesday nights over the past few weeks, Sun Valley (NC) 2021 four-star wide receiver Gavin Blackwell is out late getting in his work. He and his coaches and teammates head to the field at 9 pm to get in some extra work. The late start suits many of the players’ schedules and allows them to beat the heat during the day.

It’s currently the NCAA recruiting dead period, but once it lifts next week, the recruiting heat will likely be back on Blackwell. Ranked No. 63 in the 2021 Rivals100, Blackwell said he’s up to 23 offers, most recently from LSU, Florida State, Ohio State and Maryland. He plans to visit two of those, while also condensing his list a bit.

“I mean, at the moment, I have schools in mind,” Blackwell said. “I’m not going to put those out there. The schools who know I’m focusing on, they know. I’m open right now. I’m not holding anybody out, or forgetting anybody. But yeah, I have a list that I plan on visiting and getting to know better and focusing on throughout the process.”
