In a recent interview with David Teel of the Newport News Daily Press, Virginia Tech athletic director Whit Babcock noted that he expected to play a home-and-home with an SEC opponent in the future, though that series likely wouldn’t take place until the 2030s.  From looking at the future schedules of all SEC teams, it’s easy to see why.  There are only a handful of SEC teams who could technically play the Hokies in a home and home series in the near future, and even a couple of those aren’t realistic.

I know that’s probably hard to swallow, so today I wanted to look at the future schedules of each SEC opponent and show you why it would be very difficult for Babcock to schedule a home-and-home series with one of those teams in the near future.

First, for reference, here’s our Football Future Schedules Page. Plus, here’s a screen cap of the 2020-2025 portion of the future schedules — home games on the left, road games on the right.
