Mario Kendricks is one of three high school defensive tackles to sign with the Hokies in the 2019 recruiting class. Of the three, he is one of two possibilities to play early. From Kissimmee outside of Orlando, he’s close friends with fellow Florida defensive tackle recruit Norell Pollard, who is also from just outside of Orlando. Pollard is a likely redshirt in 2019, and we’ll cover him in a future scouting report.
Kendricks has a rather large list of offers, which is strange for a defensive tackle who many programs would consider slightly undersized. That makes me wonder exactly how many of those offers were committable, considering he eventually picked the Hokies over Indiana.
Last spring and summer I viewed Kendricks as an excellent defensive tackle prospect for Virginia...
