Sure, 2021 Clear Creek Amana (Iowa) defensive end TJ Bollers and his family could get in the car and take school visits. But what would be the fun in that?

For some trips, the Bollers family instead takes their RV. They’ve done it for trips out west, football camps and baseball games for Bollers’ younger brother. So on Saturday, Bollers, his parents, two younger sisters, younger brother and three dogs, took off in their RV, dubbed ‘Thaddeus’ by Bollers’ mom, and traversed the nearly 13 hours to Virginia Tech.

It was one of a series of visits Bollers said he hopes will provide more clarity for his recruitment. Overall, that recruitment is in its infancy, as he waits to see what changes will happen in the next couple of years.

“When we can go somewhere together, we’re going to go somewhere together,” Bollers said. “My mom makes dinner, so if anyone comes home, at 9 (pm), dinner will be ready so we can all eat as a family. We’re just close like that. My little brother thinks it’s cool being on all these visits, so I love to take him.”

Bollers said he and his family arrived at Virginia Tech late on Sunday and stayed until Wednesday morning. The visit was his first also to the state of Virginia.
