There’s a reason why he has a ‘burner’ phone. On Jan. 12, Westside (Ga.) three-star linebacker Jayland Parker picked up his fourth offer, but first from a school in a Power Five conference, Rutgers. Since then, his recruitment has built momentum, adding to what turned out to be a hectic week last week.           

Parker has added Virginia Tech, Cincinnati, NC State, Florida Atlantic and Liberty to his offer list since March 1 to bring his total to 24. He’s become fully involved with his recruitment, with visits nearly every weekend for the past two months. But overall, Parker said he still hasn’t made his mind up, though he likely has a decision date.           

The increased communication from coaches, recruiting staffers and even recruiting writers gave Parker plenty of reason to buy a phone just for his recruitment. His brother helps him field incoming calls and manage contacts. Last week, Parker said he received 12 calls from football programs in two days.
