At the time, it was hard for Woodward Academy (GA) three-star running back Tahj Gary to look too far ahead. On Nov. 16, Gary suffered a gruesome injury in the second round of Georgia’s Class 4A state playoffs.

On the third play of the game, as Gary was tackled, the defender’s helmet crashed into his left leg. The result was a broken femur, and since then, Gary has been battling back. It hasn’t been easy, with a bit of mild depression, along with the challenge of walking. But the recovery has since gone smoothly and now, the Virginia Tech signee reports he’s one month ahead of schedule.

“I’m just really getting back into walking,” he said. “Before, my main focus was to walk, now its jogging, running, cutting, stuff like that. My bone is basically healed all the way now.
