Early last fall, Spring Valley (WV) four-star offensive lineman Doug Nester began to question his initial commitment. He had been committed to Ohio State since August of 2017, and he had originally chosen the Buckeyes over Virginia Tech.

Later into the fall, Nester took a few visits, including one in September for Virginia Tech’s game against William & Mary. After Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer announced his retirement in December, Nester then elected not to sign his letter-of-intent during the early signing period.

Yesterday, on National Signing Day, Nester elected to head south for his college career. He signed his letter-of-intent with the Hokies, ending a recruitment in which they gained steam over the past few months, and giving Virginia Tech the No. 156 overall player in the Rivals250.
