Ray Grier
Wide Receiver, Class of 2020
South Point High School, Belmont, NC
6-2, 200

With some of the offers that South Point (NC) four-star wide receiver Ray Grier boasts, there’s no question that he’s wanted. With others, Grier has seen that there might be little else to a school besides that oral offer.

It’s all part of the process for Grier, No. 184 in the 2020 Rivals250. Offers this week from Louisville, Auburn and Appalachian State have pushed his total to 14 offers. While Grier is still likely nowhere near a decision, he’s processing more, especially after a visit this past weekend.

“Really, I’m just looking for a school by the way the offense plays,” he said. “Do they throw the ball? How many go to the league from that school? It’s stuff like that, really.”

Grier said he took that into account on Saturday when he visited Virginia Tech for its junior day. His previous stop in Blacksburg was in November when the Hokies hosted Miami.

“It was very fun, different because I’m more comfortable. I got to spend more time with the head man (Justin Fuente), talk to Coach (James) Shibest. I had a good time and it’s always good food down there.”

Shibest has been Grier’s primary recruiter.
