The advances have been so quick that despite an upcoming small window, Riverside CC (Calif.) defensive end Nick Figueroa isn’t worried.           

The 2016 season, Figeuroa’s senior season of high school, was his first playing football. He signed with Cal Poly, redshirted in the fall of 2017, then transferred to Riverside when he decided he wanted a better opportunity. Now, Figueroa has just over a month to make a decision of where he’ll head next, before the end of the early signing period, Dec. 19. At this point, he’s narrowed his possibilities a bit, but he’s still somewhat open.           

“Right now, I’m kind of looking at projected program success, how I see the recruiting classes doing and the coaches I’m working with,” Figueroa said. “A lot of schools, the coaches are in their second, third, or fourth seasons. I’m looking at how the team’s progressing. I take in education, the family thing, maybe being kind of close to home. Those, plus coach relationships, that’s my driving forces right now.”
