L.C. Bird (Va.) has produced a number of top football players, from Jason Snelling, to Anthony Harris, to Jalen Elliott and Rayshard Ashby. It also has three state championships. But until this season, the school had never had an Army All-American.           

Last month, three-star athlete Jaden Payoute became the first. The Virginia Tech commitment was officially honored last Monday. For Payoute, it was a big accomplishment, but one that he hopes is just a step in his football career.           

“That took me back a little bit, like wow,” Payoute said of being L.C. Bird’s first Army All-American. “I grew up wanting to be like Rayshard Ashby and Jalen Elliott, following in their footsteps. Then, I’m up there with them.
