On the field, Sanderson (NC) four-star offensive tackle Mitchell Mayes hasn’t played the past three weeks, due to an injury. Off the field, it hasn’t slowed him down, as he’s taken in visits for games nearly every weekend this season.
For Mayes, No. 188 in the 2020 Rivals250, all the games have been chances to see places he hasn’t, and to be more familiar with those he has. As a few schools have jumped out, he’s begun thinking about when he would like to make a decision.
“I’d like to find a great family feel, where I feel welcomed in the whole program, with the coaches, the players and the fans,” Mayes said. “Game atmosphere is important. It’s not a game-changer, but I’d like a great section cheering for the team while we’re playing. Those are the biggest things, besides education. I’d like to do sports medicine, to stay in the realm of sports.”
