It’s no secret that Virginia Tech has problems in the defensive secondary this year. Take a look at some of these uncharacteristic defensive rankings…

Passing defense: No. 120
Pass efficiency defense: No. 88
Opp. Completion %: No. 104

Those numbers are shocking for a Bud Foster defense.

There are many reasons for those numbers. No, this isn’t going to be a video breakdown of techniques, or anything like that. This will be a simple exercise of looking at past recruiting classes and figuring out what went wrong. Obviously recruiting is one issue, but there are others as well: NFL draft declarations, injuries, academics, and alleged felonies are some others.

We’ll begin with the 2015 class and work our way forward.
