Monday Thoughts: A Trip to Duke Will Cure What Ails You

That was one very long week. In the roller coaster ride that is 2018 Virginia Tech Football, we’ve finally gotten back to a good place.

There were only seven days between the ODU game and this one, but it felt like an eternity. If you’re like me, plays from the previous game loop through your head all week long, and that ODU game was not one you wanted looping through your head. Almost no Hokies looked good in that game, so all week long, the trailer in my head was showing one bad play after another, making me doubt every Virginia Tech football player whose misdeeds were highlighted in the theater of my mind.

That’s over, and now we have a new loop of plays.

Step one for this game was for the Hokies to get their heads dialed in right, and they did that. Step two was to win the game, and they did that, as well. The reasons why Virginia Tech won were not complicated; as Chris Coleman pointed out yesterday, the Hokies made plays, and Duke didn’t.

I got back from Durham at noon on Sunday, so I actually had time to watch this game and take notes. My notes weren’t as detailed as I thought they’d be, so this week’s Monday Thoughts will still
