Two weekends ago, South Point (NC) 2020 wide receiver Rayonta Grier made a pair of visits. He had visited both schools multiple times before, but as he’s done and continued to do more of, Grier looked for aspects he hadn’t looked for before.
On Saturday, Grier made what he estimates was his fifth visit to North Carolina, for a barbecue. On Sunday, he was at Virginia Tech’s Blacksburg Bash. That was likely his fifth visit to see the Hokies, too.
Grier is now at nine offers. West Virginia was the most recent to join. While a few schools have caught his attention, Grier isn’t in any hurry with his recruitment.
“The main thing I’m looking for is the atmosphere, the people there and the education part,” he said. “I want to do sports medicine when I go to college, so the education part for sure. I’ll play in anything but the option. I need the ball in my hands.”
Before Sunday, Grier last visited Virginia Tech this spring for a practice. He also attended the Hokies’ win in October over North Carolina. This trip gave Grier more of an intimate look at the program and school....
