ACC Running Back Review: Coastal Division

It’s been awhile since we ran our look at Atlantic Division tailbacks.  I was planning on doing the Coastal Division shortly thereafter, but then things started happening with players leaving the program, commits and decommits, etc.  I’m finally getting around to it today, and by the end of the article, you’ll see that the Hokies have a unique situation at tailback, in comparison to the other Coastal Division teams.

As a bonus, I’ve included each team’s rushing stats against the Hokies a year ago.  The numbers include carries by quarterbacks and wide receivers. All statistics are from sports-reference.com.

Duke

Shaun Wilson, who led the team with 818 yards and averaged five yards per carry, is gone.  However, the Blue Devils are likely to replace him with a better back in sophomore Britain Brown.  Here were Brown’s numbers last year as a freshman…

Rushing: 130 carries, 701 yards, 5.4 ypc, 7 TDs
Receiving: 14 catches, 161 yards, 11.5 ypr
