There’s already some hype surrounding Sanderson (NC) 2020 four-star offensive tackle Mitchell Mayes. Just check out his No. 188 ranking in the Rivals250. Still, Mayes is a bit unknown.
Mayes didn’t attend any camps this spring. He only took a couple of college visits. Still, he’s accumulated 15 total offers from schools that include Tennessee, Clemson, West Virginia and Mississippi State. Mayes also has a couple of visits coming this weekend to Tennessee and NC State that could help him dive into his recruitment a bit more.
“Location is a pretty big deal, people also,” Mayes said. “I want a great atmosphere during games. I only went to NC State last year, but I’ll be more places this fall. I want to see how the fans react, that’d be something I’ll notice. How the coaches talk and treat you, if it’s only about football or not. Jerseys are cool, but that’s not too important.”
Virginia Tech offered Mayes yesterday. To this point, however, he’s still just slightly familiar with the Hokies.
