2020 athlete Khamran Laborn hopes a change this summer will pay dividends in a few ways. His hope is his on and off-field profile will rise.

Laborn transferred at the end of the spring semester from Norview (Va.) to Bayside (Va.). He’s now getting the chance to play at multiple positions, which could raise interest for schools in his recruitment. Laborn currently has one offer, from Virginia Tech.

“I didn’t know if I was staying here or not,” Laborn said of the Tidewater area. “My dad had moved and I had to come live with my mom. I’m in that district now. A lot of people think it’ll benefit me playing against teams like Cox, Oscar Smith, bigger teams. It’s going good so far. We’ve got a lot of athletes. On the offensive side, we’re stacked, both sides, actually.”

Laborn said he’ll play both offense and defense this fall. That should also give college programs a better chance to evaluate his skill and decide where he fits best.
