About a month and a half ago, I was getting off the Underground at Marylebone Station, about to catch the last train out of London. It was about 11:30pm, and there weren’t that many people around (for London). A woman walked up to me, pointed at my Virginia Tech jacket and said, “Oh, Virginia Tech, huh?”
“Yeah, are you fan?” I replied.
“No, but Josh Jackson is my neighbor in Michigan. He’s a really good guy.”
Those aren’t the exact words, but that’s the gist of the conversation, which lasted less than 30 seconds, and came to the same conclusion that everyone who has ever met Josh Jackson has come to: he’s a good guy who is mature beyond his years. How’s that for a random Virginia Tech conversation 3,877 miles from Blacksburg?
That’s why the information that came out a couple weeks ago that Josh Jackson was involved in some sort of an academic investigation was so surprising. Josh Jackson? Really? He’s the last guy anyone would expect to be involved in something like that. Nobody would have guessed that, from his neighbor, to his coaches, to the media.
