Wide Receiver, Class of 2019
LC Bird High School, Chesterfield, VA
Over the past week, it’s been difficult for LC Bird (Va.) 2019 wide receiver Jaden Payoute to keep track of his offers. He’s now up to 17 in total. Virginia Tech, Cincinnati, Tennessee, Boston College, Illinois, Pittsburgh, Marshall, Charlotte and Fordham, however, have come in the past week.
Payoute said he hasn’t lost sight of what he’s looking for, and while one of his closest teammates has already made his decision, Payoute is still taking his time in sifting through all his options.
“I’m looking for a good school, first of all, then a good program,” he said. “I want a good education, too. That’s a big thing, but a good football program, too. Distance from home isn’t that big of a deal to my parents. Playing at the next level is just what they wanted me to do.”
The Hokies offered on Wednesday, and though it’s been nearly three years since his previous and only visit to Blacksburg, he plans to be back this weekend.
“It means a lot, knowing a powerhouse in my state thinks highly of me,” Payoute said. “It means a lot. They have a lot of alumni around here, a lot. I have a former teammate there now (Rayshard Ashby), going into his sophomore year.”
