Virginia Tech’s Cornerback Situation: Hokies Thin, But Options Remain

Last Friday, the expected bad news that Adonis Alexander and Jeremy Webb would not be available for the upcoming football season finally broke.  Webb suffered an Achilles injury in his very first workout with the team, while Alexander is academically ineligible and was forced to enter the NFL’s Supplemental Draft.

Besides that attrition, rising senior Shawn Payne is no longer listed on the roster.  Payne wasn’t going to help the team anyway, but still, that’s another man down.  As of right now, the Hokies are going to be awfully thin at cornerback this season.
