In November, his best friend made his college decision. Mars (Pa.) 2020 athlete Michael Carmody noted that choice, but he also decided he needed more time.

Carmody’s friend, Joey Craska, committed to Virginia Tech on Nov. 14 for baseball. Even before that, however, the two pals had talked about the possibility of attending the same college together. Now, that’s a real possibility.

On May 24, the Hokies offered Carmody. He has 16 total offers from schools such as Michigan, Nebraska, Wisconsin and West Virginia. While the potential to attend the same school as Craska is an option, Carmody said he’s keeping his other options open, too.

“Obviously, him being my best friend, it’s cool to go to the same place,” Carmody said. “But I’ve always wanted to move away, get away from town. I don’t think it’d be bad to go with your best friend.”

Carmody, is diligently looking at all of his suitors in-depth. He has a few specific areas he said he’s especially looking at.

“Definitely, first for me is academics,” Carmody said. “Then, it’s probably a strong locker room culture, and a school that has a good fan base and following, not just to watch the game, but they have a connection and they care about it.
