Weight: 179 pounds

Tre Turner was a big-time get for the Hokies out of the state of North Carolina.  Tech beat out all the in-state programs for his signature, not to mention Florida State, Florida, Oklahoma, Miami, Notre Dame and Penn State.  Turner’s overall offer list is fairly similar to that of Isaiah Ford, but he’s ranked higher in all of the national rankings than Ford was as a recruit.

Turner might be ranked even higher were it not for a shoulder injury that sidelined him for half of his senior season.  That shoulder injury, and subsequent surgery, limited him when he enrolled at Virginia Tech in January.  Though he enrolled early and theoretically should be ahead of the other incoming freshmen, he’ll actually be behind all those guys from a strength standpoint because he hasn’t been able to do much lifting, if any, since late last summer.
