The Hokies didn’t beat out a ton of Power 5 schools to gain the services of Luke Tenuta, but they did beat out two of their biggest rivals — West Virginia and North Carolina.  Tenuta is from Crozet, Va., just west of Charlottesville, and his father is long-time college defensive coach Jon Tenuta.  He’s lived in a variety of places in his life and he grew up in a football household. 

Tenuta will play offensive tackle for the Hokies, but as of now he’s more experienced as a defensive end and a baseball pitcher.

“I was fortunate enough to go watch him throw,” Virginia Tech offensive line coach Vance Vice said. “After two hit batters, I knew he was a football player.”

Tenuta worked out at camps last summer as a defensive linemen and all of his junior film is at defensive end.  He wasn’t necessarily regarded as an offensive line recruit until later in his high school career, which explains his lack of offers.  Nevertheless, I think
