Class of 2020 Offensive Lineman Altrique Barlow Recaps First Trip to Virginia Tech

It remains a wait and see approach for Bishop Sullivan (Va.) 2020 offensive tackle Altrique Barlow. His offer sheet has remained at four since last spring, as schools have waited to see how he develops. But Barlow hasn’t waited to improve himself physically and get more into his recruitment.

Virginia Tech, Auburn, Florida Atlantic and Charlotte have each offered Barlow (6-foot-4, 300 pounds) to this point. He made a visit this past weekend that shed even more light on his options. Others have reached out, however, to give Barlow an inclination of what might be next.

“Now that I’m older and more focused on my future, I’m looking at schools that have my major and what I want to do,” he said. “I want to study business management. I’ve been talking a lot with LSU. I like the communication and how they care about their players. I look for that stuff. I want to build a good relationship with my coach. They’re going to be a big part of my life for the next three or four years.”

This past weekend, Barlow made his first visit to Virginia Tech. He made the trip with a few of his teammates, including three-star 2019 defensive lineman Adarious Jones and 2020 defensive back Nekhi Meredith. For Barlow, it was a chance to see a school he’d heard plenty about.
