Jesse Hanson Not Compromising in Commitment to Virginia Tech

Jesse Hanson lives about an hour from Virginia Tech’s campus, but Jesse and his family have not been fans of the Hokies.

Well, they are now.

Hanson, a Class of 2019 offensive lineman from Lord Botetourt High School in Daleville, Va., committed to Virginia Tech on Thursday, ending his recruitment. The 6-foot-4, 290-pound prospect held nine reported scholarship offers, but is sticking with the Hokies.

“All the other schools that have offered me, and some of the schools that are still talking to me now are great schools,” Jesse said. “Everyone somewhere had something to compromise on. ‘What’s your previous seasons been like? What’s the culture at your place like? Do you know how far away you are?’ Like everything had one tiny thing to compromise on. But Tech didn’t. That was the difference.”

Hanson and his family have been down to campus to visit Virginia Tech on several occasions, including Tech’s recent Junior Day on Jan. 14. It was that visit that sealed the deal for Jesse and his parents.
