The Importance Of Justin Robinson for Virginia Tech Basketball

Last week, we ran an article based on advanced stats that showed how important Kerry Blackshear has been to Virginia Tech’s efforts this year.  Not only is he a talented player, but he is also Tech’s only regular over 6-foot-6, which makes him unique.  The numbers show that Justin Robinson has been almost as important as Blackshear this year, and there are very few point guards out there who are capable of running the Hokies’ offense at Robinson’s pace.

I was planning on writing an article this week about Robinson, and I was planning on being the first person to say that he is coming off his best back-to-back performances of his career against quality competition.  Buzz Williams beat me to the punch on Monday night though, when he noted that Robinson had the best week of his career against North Carolina and Notre Dame.

The numbers back it up.

UNC: 19 points, four assists, one turnover
Notre Dame: 12 points, seven assists, zero turnovers
