Virginia Tech is five games into the ACC season, and all five games have gone exactly as projected.  The Hokies lost to two good teams on the road, and they lost to now-No. 2 Virginia at home.  It’s far too early to know what’s going to happen with this season, as up to this point the only thing that is surprising from a win-loss standpoint was the loss to Saint Louis.

That said, there are 13 regular season games remaining, and the Hokies are going to have to start picking up some top-50 wins.  Close road losses to teams like Kentucky and Louisville, though very admirable, do not count.  As Ricky Bobby reminds us, “If you ain’t first, you’re last.”
