At this point, Tremaine Edmunds is a known commodity.
The 6-foot-5, 250-pound behemoth came into his own as a sophomore, and is only getting better as a junior in 2017. In just two games, Edmunds has totaled 21 tackles, four tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. He also has a forced fumble. In fact, Edmunds’ tackles for loss, sacks and the forced fumble all came vs. Delaware.
Edmunds showed off all of the physical and mental tools he has vs. the Blue Hens. In this week’s Film Room, we’ll take a look at each of Edmunds’ big plays, and show how he’s the total package at linebacker.
Good instincts against the run
Playing well against the run requires good instincts. You have to react quickly to get to the gap in time, or else you’ve missed your chance to hold the run for no gain. Edmunds’ instincts were on display in the first quarter.
On this play, Delaware lines up in 13-personnel (one running back, three tight ends), with two tight ends to the left and one to the right. One of tight ends on the left side motions right, which is the same direction the run is headed.
