Tomorrow signifies the end of the current dead period for FBS football recruiting. Starting at midnight ET tonight, college coaches are again permitted to make ‘all forms of private communication’ according to NCAA bylaws.

Oscar Smith (Va.) 2019 four-star safety Cam’Ron Kelly is among those preparing to be inundated with phone calls. Kelly, No. 146 in the 2019 Rivals250, has 29 offers, including one from Virginia Tech.

While Kelly has become familiar with the recruiting world, he’s far from ending his own recruitment. And even when he is ready, Kelly said he’s not sure if he’ll make that information public anyway.

“It’s going to be pretty hectic,” Kelly said of the upcoming open period. “I already joked with my coach that I can’t come to practice because my phone will be broken. I said I might get 100 calls, and he said that’s an understatement, that I might get 120. I’m having fun with the process, honestly. I’m going to be the same Cam Kelly. I’m trying to ball like I don’t have any offers. When the decision comes, it comes.”
