MATTHEWS, N.C. — It’s pretty difficult to receive a scholarship offer to play college football as a freshman in high school. Just a few players each year are able to do it. One of those? Gaberiel Fuster.
Fuster is a Class of 2020 linebacker from Bishop Sullivan High School in Virginia Beach, VA. Fuster stands at 6-feet and 215-pounds, and has garnered interest from multiple Power 5 programs. Among those schools is his only offer at this point — Virginia Tech.
Virginia Tech issued a scholarship offer to Fuster in November 2016, and area recruiter Zohn Burden has worked since then to develop a relationship.
“It’s very good,” Fuster said. “He’s seen me at a lot of camps, and sometimes he’ll come and visit Bishop. He saw me work out one day in the weight room at Bishop, and Coach [Chris] Scott gave me the call to say they were offering me.”
