Virginia Tech Recruiting Targets: Defense

Virginia Tech signed a loaded defensive class in February of 2016, which means most of their defensive needs in 2017 are less pressing.

The Hokies signed three defensive ends, two defensive tackles and four linebackers in 2016, so isn’t as much recruiting room in the front seven in the 2017 class. However, I do expect the coaching staff to take a number of defensive backs in this cycle. In fact, the Hokies have offered and are recruiting so many different defensive backs that it’s tough to keep track of them all.

Since we’re in the middle of the evaluation period, the Hokies have also extended a lot of new offers over the last week. As of now, I’m unfamiliar with those players and where they may rank on Tech’s board (as well as where the Hokies rank in the eyes of the recruits), so I might not talk directly about them today, though they are included on the 2018 Target Board.

Keep in mind that it’s still early. We are including links to our target board that lists each player Tech has offered at each position, but I’m only going to talk about those players who I feel the Hokies have a decent chance to land. More offers will come as the coaches evaluate during the spring and summer.
