Virginia Tech currently has an opening on their schedule in 2022. Other than that, the schedule is complete from 2018 through 2024. Today’s article will focus on future scheduling, and what the Hokies could choose to do with that open date in 2022.

2019: six home, six away
2020: seven home, five away
2021: seven home, five away
Virginia Tech’s home schedule features a “name” opponent for three of those four seasons…all three seasons in which Tech has seven home games.
2018: Notre Dame
2020: Penn State
2021: Michigan, Notre Dame
The 2019 home schedule is lacking, but it’s probably too late to do anything about that. It is what it is.
I like the way the 2018, 2020 and 2021 schedules shape up. By playing Notre Dame, Penn State and Michigan at home, Tech AD Whit Babcock basically guarantees that season ticket sales will be very strong, if not sold out completely. Add to that the bonus that there are seven home games in each of those seasons, and the profit will be even higher.
