Down to three finalists, Hillside (NC) four-star running back Jamal Elliott saw one of them in person again over the weekend. But the other two will also get their chance.

On March 23, Elliott, No. 206 in the Rivals250, tweeted that he had a top three of Virginia Tech, Tennessee and Oregon. He said that day that he also planned to visit all three before he made a decision, and he’s still held firm to that assertion.

On Saturday, Elliott made the first of those visits when he went to Virginia Tech to watch one of the Hokies’ spring practices. It marked his second trip to Blacksburg in as many months.

“They showed a lot of love,” Elliott said. “They showed me around and it was just a scrimmage for me to see, so it was a lot different. I just learned more about the program.”

Elliott said he also reconnected with Virginia Tech’s coaching staff. But compared to previous conversations, the Hokies’ push this time was simply a reiteration of what they had told him before.

“It’s no different,” Elliott said. “Really, they just talked to me, Coach Zohn (Burden) and Coach (Justin) Fuente. Really, I just went through plays with the players, just watching and learning what they do.”

Overall, Elliott said his thoughts of the Hokies haven’t changed. They remain a strong contender among his finalists.

“I don’t have a top, so I don’t want it to be a confusion,” Elliott said. “Every time I go to a school, someone says that’s my top school. But V-Tech, I just feel like they’re on the come-up. That’s really the main thing.”

Elliott said he still plans to stay true with his other set visits. He’ll visit Tennessee April 22
