There are now 31 offers in for IMG Academy (Fla.) four-star athlete Houston Griffith, after a barrage of additions in the past month or more. It’s certainly given him more options, but Griffith has a few coming at him hardest, as he prepares for a round of visits this weekend.
Griffith, No. 42 in the Rivals250 and the No. 2 athlete and No. 10 player in Florida by Rivals.com, gained five more offers in the last couple of weeks. Those came from Virginia Tech, USC, South Carolina, NC State and Temple.
But while Griffith is still keeping his options open, he does have a number of characteristics he’s keeping in mind when looking at his suitors.
“I look for if I can get a good education, good connections for after school,” he said. “Then, just the whole program in general.”
Originally from Chicago, Griffith has been looked at for a few positions by schools. But the consensus is still that Griffith’s future is likely in the secondary.
“I don’t care where I play,” he said. “Earlier on, schools offered me as a corner. But since I started getting bigger, schools think I can play safety, nickel and corner. They definitely want me to be a DB, though.”
