It’s December 22, and the Hokies have a numbers crunch.  The coaching staff is still pursuing a large number of their top recruiting targets, but with 18 players already committed, they are limited in the number of players they can take at this point.

Here are the big names that you should remember…

3-star OT Mekhi Becton
3-star DT Victor Dimukeje
4-star DE Tyjuan Garbutt
4-star DE Nathan Proctor
3-star DE Brad Johnson
3-star DT/DE Robert Porcher IV
4-star LB Dylan Rivers
4-star CB Ameer Speed (I upped him to a 4-star today, based on his offer list of 20+ Power 5 schools)
3-star CB Harrison Hand
4-star S Devon Hunter
4-star S Markquese Bell
3-star ATH Dazz Newsome

3-star safety Tank Robinson could also get a committable offer at some point, and 3-star jumbo athlete Elijah Conliffe is still being recruited.

Virginia Tech sits in decent to great shape with most of those targets listed above, with the lone exception of Richmond offensive tackle Mekhi Becton.  He’s likely headed out-of-state.

The Hokies have several major needs down the stretch.  They are in good shape at quarterback, running back, wide receiver/tight end and linebacker.  What they need are offensive linemen, defensive linemen and defensive backs.  Ideally, they’ll get commitments from multiple players at each of those positions between now and Signing Day.  However,
