Chris Coleman: There were several very good questions about how Virginia Tech is involved in the Wake Forest playbook scandal, so I thought I’d lump them all here.

What’s going to happen to Virginia Tech? Nothing, most likely. At worst a slap on the wrist. Whit Babcock handled it correctly when he found out about it. I don’t think the NCAA will pay any attention at all.

How did Virginia Tech find out? Most likely Wake Forest found emails between Tommy Elrod and the former Virginia Tech staff member, and they forwarded the information to Whit Babcock. Whit chose to be transparent about the situation, which is the correct way to handle things.

Will any current VT coaches be implicated? I don’t know. The only current assistants who were on the staff in 2014 are Bud Foster and Charley Wiles. I’m guessing VT will (or has already) review past emails to see if there are more connections.

Do we share the info we find with the current employer of the coach in question, and do we go public with the info once fully researched? Interesting question. I’m inclined to say no. That coach could potentially harm Virginia Tech at some point, and I don’t see the need to get involved
