Monday Thoughts: Embrace It

I’ll warn you ahead of time that this one is pretty long. I’ve got lots of thoughts, you know … so Monday Thoughts is appropriate.

I started work on this one Sunday night and went until 1:30 AM.  I didn’t really want to stop, but I figured I should get some sleep, and at 8 AM this morning I was right back at it. There aren’t a lot of stats in here, and no videos, so it wound up being a lot of writing.

Pace yourself. You might want to break it up into a couple sessions. Don’t forget to take a break and walk around to keep the blood flow going.

Embrace the Good

Enough being cautious. Enough being measured with our reactions. It’s time to embrace it.

This is a darn good team, and they are very, very well-coached. We don’t know how the rest of the season is going to go, but at this point in time, Virginia Tech is every bit the #17-ranked team in the country. When you outscore three FBS opponents in a row by an aggregate score of 137-20, one of them a ranked conference opponent on the road, you are that good. It’s that simple.

In the preseason, the optimistic among us thought that a 4-1 record at this point was feasible. But by these margins? I’m not sure even the most optimistic felt it would unfold this way, but it has. So in that sense, we feel like things are ahead of schedule.
