Buzz Williams

Buzz Williams picked up his second top recruit of the 2017 class this week when Wabissa Bede made his verbal commitment to the Hokies.  Bede blew up on the AAU circuit over the summer, and adding him into the mix with Nickeil Alexander-Walker gives Virginia Tech one of the best backcourt classes in the entire country.

Alexander-Walker and Bede give the Hokies the #18 recruiting class in the country per  Of all programs who have two commitments for the 2017 class, the Hokies rank fourth nationally.  Here are the other programs with two commitments…

#13 Western Kentucky
#16 Arizona
#17 Louisville
#18 Virginia Tech
#21 Texas
#22 Villanova
#23 Florida

That’s some pretty good company, obviously, with the exception of Western Kentucky.  However, Western Kentucky is coached by former Mississippi State head coach Rick Stansbury … who has had great recruiting success at places where coaches don’t normally have success.

The Hokies aren’t done with the 2017 class.  I expect them to add two or three more players before all is said and done.  Here is a list of the scholarship players currently scheduled to be on the 2017-18 team…
